About the Cajun Cyclists
The club began in the early 1980's as a small group of bike riders who regularly left from Pack & Paddle on Pinhook road on Saturday mornings. The rides back then were known as Bakery or Pastry Rides, as they usually had a stop for sweets halfway through the ride. To this day, rides still leave from Pack & Paddle at 8:00am every Saturday morning throughout the year. Riders of all levels enjoy riding on a number of mapped and marked routes to various locations in neighboring towns. Most routes are about 35-40 miles, but a beginners' route is also available which is usually 10-12 miles long. Riders of all levels and ages are invited to participate in our rides; the only requirement is that you wear a helmet. We also have a set of organized rides on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Please refer to our ride schedule for more details. The Cajun Cyclists Bicycle Club is a dues-free organization and its membership is open to anyone. Becoming a member of our club is as simple as attending one of our rides. Check out the popular Festival International de Louisiana, which highlights musical acts from all over the world. This festival celebrates the French influences, not only on Louisiana, but also in countries worldwide. Cajun Cyclists is now taking orders for our club jersey and socks. The Jerseys are from Louis Garneau available in relaxed fit and racing cuts and the socks are from "Sock Guy".Click on the images below for more details. The club’s monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at Faith Lutheran Church - 104 Rue Fontaine in Lafayette, LA at 6:00 PM. Club members plan our rides, events, and address other club business at these meetings. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. Directions from Kaliste Saloom: Kaliste Saloom to Rue Louis IVX. Turn on Rue Louis heading south/east. Turn left on the first street. This curves and becomes Rue Fontaine. We are the first building on the left. Please join us on our rides and see why the Cajun Cyclists Bicycle Club is one of the best cycling organizations around--"Lassiez les Bicyclettes Rouler!" (Let the Bicycles Roll!)
Bicycle Accident Survey A worldwide bicycle accident survey is being conducted by the New York Cycle Club, a 1,600+ member organization, located in New York City. The results will be published as part of a cycling risk assessment study that will be made freely available to the public at the conclusion of the survey. It is for education and advocacy purposes. The survey contains dozens of data points and its design is streamlined to have folks get through the survey as quickly and efficiently as possible. http://www.nycc.org/ras/
